The Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm
established in 1921, is one of the world's largest single commercial lavender farms, producing the finest quality lavender flowers and lavender oil, used traditionally in the perfumery industry. The farm consists of 120 acres (48 hectares) of rolling fields of lavender and is considered one of Tasmania's most spectacular sights.
Low Head Penguin Tours
Each evening as it gets dark, fairy penguins surf in from their day at sea and walk up the beach to their nests. This tour departs about an hour before sunset for Low Head. An informative commentary tells visitors about the penguins and also the maritime and colonial history of the area.
Forest Eco Centre
The Eco Centre is a focus for forest-based tourism and recreation activities in the North-East and acts to inspire visitors to explore and enjoy the diverse forest types of the region. Located in King Street, Scottsdale - Open 9am-5pm - Seven days a week. Entry is free of charge.
Blackman's Lagoon
is surrounded by coastal heath, marram grass and some pasture, Blackman's Lagoon is typical of other lakes in the Waterhouse dunes area. Fly fishing is best from late September to December, usually at first light before dawn and late in the evening.
Lilydale Falls Reserve
is a popular picnic area. Amongst the trees are two oaks that were grown from acorns from Great Windsor Park and planted on Coronation Day, May 12th, 1937. The two sets of falls, one above the other, are a short and pleasant walk through rainforest.
