Tasmania

Rugged yet Bountiful

Amidst the raging southern seas, sits the island of Tasmania, rugged yet bountiful. Tasmania’s very juxtaposition with the rest of the world is the thing that makes it so valuable and precious.

Its pristine valleys and forests, rivers and streams generate fine produce that tastes so clean and fresh they awaken your senses – then there’s the wine, born from deep minerally soils, subtle, decadent, elusive, refined – anything but ordinary.

Pipers River Vineyard

Pipers River in the Tamar Valley is where the good stuff grows. Our home vineyard in the north-east, just five kilometres from Bass Strait. The climate is mild, with warm days rarely topping 25°C and winters that aren’t too harsh. The long, cool growing season allows for beautiful flavour development without sacrificing acidity.

Coal River Valley Vineyard

Only 20 minutes from Hobart, this classic Tasmanian wine region is dry, warm by day, and often cool by night thanks to southern sea breezes. The wines here are known for blue-fruit characters, soft tannins, and a lively acidity.

The Mt. Lord Vineyard
Defying those who deemed it impossible, the Mt. Lord Vineyard site lies on a steep slope high up facing east, overlooking our Coal River Valley Estate. The combination of low yielding, multi-clonal blocks and our small batch winemaking philosophy, using the finest of French oak barriques, challenge and excite us each harvest.

Ouse Vineyard

The most central and isolated of our sites, Ouse experiences Tasmania’s hottest daytime temperatures – sometimes exceeding 40°C – but also some of its coolest nights, dropping to as low as 5°C. This extreme diurnal range creates a distinctive style that’s unlike any other in the state.

Swansea Vineyard

Situated on Tasmania’s “Sunshine Coast,” this is our warmest and driest site. With both warm days and warm nights, it produces rich, ripe fruit. It’s also a favourite holiday spot for Tasmanians, and it’s easy to see why.
