Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Varietal aromas of passionfruit and pineapple with some fresh cut boxhedge, green tomato and crushed stalks providing a sense of austerity. The parcel from the barrel ferment provides a nutty complexity. The palate is fresh with bright fruit characters. The texture of peach flesh and mealiness helps provide depth and interest. Delicious with Asian inspired dishes; think ginger, spice and Asian greens.

Tasmanian Pinot Noir 2015

A brilliant purple-red colour that shines in the glass. Aromas of violets, crushed boysenberry and blackberry with hints of roasted cinnamon, clove and green pepper. A balanced mid palate leads to a fine tannin finish with spices and length supported by French oak. Although fresh and appealing in its youth, the 2015 will reward cool cellaring for 8-12 years for those looking to enjoy the full complexity of fine Pinot Noir over time.

Single Site Coal River Valley Pinot Noir 2014

The colour is an immediate hint of this with deep crimson tones and purple hues. Initial aromas of blue flowers and dried herbs give way to fleshy dark cherries, rhubarb clafoutis and plum juice. The palate delivers on the aromatic promises, subtle entry and lively mid-palate but textured with a silkiness of tannins that comes from seasons like 2014. The concentration of fruit with a fine acidity gives persistence to length and finish. I open this wine three to six hours before drinking while it is young, but with discretion and age, this breathing time can be shortened. Complexity of earthy and savoury aromas will complement over 6-10 years of careful cellaring.

Classic Pinot Noir aromas of spiced raspberries, baked rhubarb and cranberries. After some time in the glass, Doris plum and blueberries emerge to complex the bouquet. The palate carries the theme of red fruits with a soft rich entry that tightens with the fine sappy tannins from the whole bunch component and the natural fine acidity. The structure gives life and focus to the palate with elegance that is a hallmark to high quality Pinot Noir. The finish is fresh and lingering.

Characteristic Swansea fruit and oak spice are first evident on the nose, but if patience allows, then with two to three hours of gentle breathing (decanting is not required), these aromas build with dark floral notes, above richer deep plum, blueberries and cinnamon. The fruit has lovely palate presence, with rich texture giving depth to vibrant dark fruits, soft plush tannins and natural acidity providing balance, length and generosity. Careful cellaring over 8-12 years will richly reward those looking for the complexity that completes a fine Pinot Noir.
